CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV)- The Charlotte region is waking up to a record cold morning Wednesday.
The temperature bottomed out at 21 degrees, breaking a record low that had stood for more than a century, says WBTV Meteorologist Al Conklin.
The previous record was 25 degrees set back on 1911.
Conklin says to prepare for bone-chilling cold air over the next few days as we will challenge record cold temperatures through Thursday.
The record of 22, set in 1986, will be challenged Thursday morning.
After a chilly second half of the week, temperatures moderate over the weekend, Conklin says, but moisture returns too and our chances for rain gradually increase.
